Current Macs don't feature Apple Remote support “in-the-box.” It doesn't matter if you have the newest Mac or an older model, with Mira and a supported IR receiver, you can use the Apple Remote with any app.

Mira and Manta Mini

Twisted Melon's newest receiver is Manta Mini. It connects to an available USB port and along with Mira, enables use of the Apple Remote on any Mac.

Some customers may already have an IR receiver they use with another product, so we're building support into Mira for a number of alternate receivers.

Though somewhat bulky, these receivers have been available for a number of years and enjoyed relatively wide availability. If you have one of these lying around, now's your chance to take it out of the drawer and put it to use with Mira and the Apple Remote. Your model number must be in the UIA-11 series.
(Model -11F is not supported at this time.)

Other variations are available in different colors, shapes, sizes and may also come with products from third parties such as Hauppauge, HP, Dell, Toshiba, etc. MCE products do not support wake from sleep on the Mac.
